Bitpanda’s new office in Viertel Zwei.

“Fancy, colorful, creative, bold” — such is the design statement of the fintech company’s new headquarters. Approximately 8000m² spanning 6 floors were completely redesigned right in the center of one of Vienna’s hottest office districts, Viertel Zwei. The architecture concept by architectural firm Windstärke 7 along with Alessandra Cetto was implemented in cooperation with Derenko in a compact construction phase in summer 2021.

The color concept of the entire building is colorful and diverse. So-called “silent libraries” were deliberately created in order to offer employees places of retreat and calm during the busy workday. The “Panda Bistro” with a free-standing bar island in the middle of the 400m² cafeteria not only guarantees culinary delights, but is also a real eyecatcher thanks to its fascinating lighting concept, interesting wooden elements and abundant greenery. Additionally, each floor also features a generous kitchenette (“connection area”) as well as phone booths for confidential conversations.
The topics of acoustics and the control system were also essential in the considerations for the design of the multi-storey office building. In addition to special wall panels, ceiling elements also serve as sound absorbers while simultaneously blending into the interior design as an optical style element. Cork walls, wooden slats and felt and wood components hanging from the ceiling embellish the rooms while also reducing the sound volume.
The concept idea for the control system was developed by the Derenko creative agency and alludes to the pronounced international character of the start-up. Each floor represents a continent, which is reflected in both the name as well as in the style and color scheme. Conference rooms are assigned the names of countries. Accordingly, you might hold a meeting in “Aruba”, “Costa Rica”, or “Switzerland”, for example. To sum up, this is the sweet side of life. Or work. Or both at once, because why not?
