Together with Felix Sommer, we had the pleasure of creating a true treasure trove in the tranquil village of Auersthal.

The hotel & restaurant Sommer in Lower Austria boasts a rich history. Since its founding in 1881, the establishment has been run as a family business, now in the fourth generation by Felix Sommer since 2011. Following the principle of regionality and quality through the seasons, here Felix Sommer spoils his guests with traditional Austrian cuisine. When coming up with his dishes, he brings his years of international experience gathered abroad to the table, giving that certain extra something to his creations.

Tradition and vision; values that are also reflected in the design of the new dining area. A high-quality wooden floor with large boards as well as comfortable bench seats along the sides radiate a snug, warm atmosphere. The coffered wooden ceiling, preserved from the existing building, now provides a high-contrast highlight in the room in a powerful coral red. The central areas of the room are wonderfully presented with especially comfortable ocher-colored chairs, accentuating pendant lights and soft, plush carpets.

Translucent loops of fabric, stretched over wooden frames printed with historical motifs related to the family and history, hang between the ceiling and floor to create a sophisticated partition. Elegant materials and casual accents, from behind which peeks a structured wall in an antique look thanks to the plaster technique.
The so-called “casket” on the opposite wall, a wooden frame as a modern interpretation of the “Stammtisch” round table, preserves the history of the guesthouse and will, in future, present the guesthouse’s various generations in the form of a gallery of ancestral portraits.
